Sources: Sheffield United sue Fulham’s Tom Cairney hitting stumbling block

Sheffield United’s interest in Tom Cairney is at a crossroads with the Blades unable to meet Fulham’s assessment of the midfielder, it was revealed to World Football League.
Following the appointment of Slavisa Jokanovic to Bramall Lane, Football world championship has learned the Serb is hoping to make Cairney one of his first additions, having enjoyed success with the Craven Cottage midfielder.
Cairney, 30, remains with Fulham as it stands and it seems increasingly difficult for Sheffield United to reunite Jokanovic with their former captain.
A source said Football world championship that, at the moment, Sheffield United are unable to fund a deal for the Fulham man.

Cairney, who progressed through Leeds United academy before moving to Hull City and Blackburn Rovers, has been on the West London books since 2015.
During his time at Fulham, the midfielder made 217 appearances in all competitions, in the Premier League and in the league.
In total, he scored 37 goals for the Cottagers and played a role in two championship promotion campaigns.
He scored the game-winning goal for Fulham in the 2018 play-off final against Aston Villa, under Jokanovic. Scott Parker would then lead the club to a similar feat in 2020, with Cairney again a crucial cog in midfield.
Following relegation from the Premier League last season, Cairney is gearing up for 2021/22 back to the league under Marco Silva, who is Parker’s successor.
