Real Madrid striker rated at £18m Luka Jovic could join Everton on loan
With Frank Lampard now at the Everton Finch Farm training ground today and having signed his estimated two-and-a-half-year contract, he can now get to work on potential transfer deadline day signings. To do so, he may have to use his previous football relationships, one of them being with former Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.
A link has been revealed today for one of Real Madrid’s fringe players to potentially join Everton on loan before the transfer window closes tonight.
Luka Jovicthe Serbian striker, has been linked with a loan move to Goodison Park, as The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath reported on Twitter earlier:
Everton can agree two more loan deals with foreign leagues, but they no longer have any Premier League loan deals available to them as they have reached the quota with the loan signings of Anwar El Ghazi and Donny Van. From Beck.
Is Luka Jovic a better backup option for Everton?
With Solomon Rondon replacing unsuccessfully while Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been injured for 4 months, Lampard may well seek a favor from Ancelotti to secure a younger and more desirable striker as Calvert-Lewin’s replacement.
The Serb arrived from Eintracht Frankfurt for £56million but failed to make an impact in Spain. Jovic has been out of favor at Real Madrid and spent much of his time since signing for Benfica before that and last season when he was at Real Madrid on loan from German side Eintracht Frankfurt. Jovic has made just 32 appearances for Madrid in two and a half years with just three goals scored.
However, Jovic’s record in Germany was much better with about one goal every 3 games his ratio. Also for Serbia, their 20 caps have seen seven goals, which is a good strike rate at international level.
At 24, Jovic has plenty of time to get his career back on track, even though his work rate and desire have been questioned. However, the Serbian striker could be suited for the Premier League and Arsenal have been heavily linked with him in the past. Fellow Serbian striker Alexander Mitrovic’s form at Fulham shows how well he can potentially fit into English football.
It would certainly be a last-minute deal for Lampard and Everton, but with his footballing friendships, including Ancelotti, I wouldn’t rule out this loan deal happening before the 11pm transfer deadline.
Will the Toffees make a move for Luka Jovic?
