March to Madison for Immigrant Rights Continues in Waukesha

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Tuesday marked the third day of a nine-day protest march towards Madison as it continues in Waukesha.
Immigrant rights group Voces de la Frontera held a rally outside their office on Tuesday morning, demanding immigration reform. The group wants to pressure the Biden administration to add a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrant workers and the state legislature to allow undocumented immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses.
Milwaukee Alderman Marina Dimitrijevic spoke at the rally, adding that she supported the initiative due to the fact that she was the daughter of a Serbian immigrant and married to a Uruguayan immigrant.
“I support the march as alderman of Milwaukee, first and foremost because I believe our nation must now have a clear path to citizenship and driver’s licenses for all,” Dimitrijevic said. “Our economy is in jeopardy after the pandemic. We have workers ready to go and they just need the support and the promise made to them, especially by the Biden administration, and the time is right.”
The group is also lobbying Democrats in Congress to include citizenship for 11 million people in the infrastructure and jobs bill.
