Dean signs for Liverpool Women
Liverpool FC Women have confirmed the signing of Rianna Dean.
The 22-year-old joins the club after three years at Tottenham Hotspur after leaving Arsenal academy and spending a season with the Millwall Lioness.
Dean’s goals helped Spurs secure a promotion from the Championship to the Women’s Super League in 2018/19 and establish themselves in the WSL.
She concluded her career with Spurs with 21 goals in 63 appearances while also representing England up to U21 level.
LFC Women manager Matt Beard said: “It was important that we signed a proven goalscorer and Rianna has done so consistently in two league seasons.
“She had a great first season in the WSL before coming in and out of the team last year. So she’s hungry and we get a talented young player while adding depth to the squad and to the competition for places.
Dean spoke of her enthusiasm as she joined the Reds for preseason training this week.
She said: “I’m buzzing, the club is huge, I can’t wait and I’m really happy to be here.
“My job is to score goals and I hope that’s what the fans see of me. I like to work hard and do my best for the team.
Dean is one of the many newcomers to the Reds this summer and the player believes that a strong squad can only be beneficial for everyone involved.
“When you have healthy competition, it just pushes the individuals on the team to do better. I came here to get a promotion and help the team move forward.
Dean is the summer window’s sixth arrival at Liverpool FC Women following the signings of Leanne Kiernan, Yana Daniels, Megan Campbell, Jasmine Matthews and Carla Humphrey.
