Finance Minister signs agreements on 235 million euros in loans
Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali and representatives of the French Development Agency and the World Bank signed agreements on two loans – for the fight against climate change and rail modernization – in the presence of Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic.
The agreements relate to the program loan for public policies to combat climate change and the loan for the railway sector modernization project in Serbia through the implementation of a multi-phase program approach and a value of around 235 million euros.
The money from these loans will be spent on environmental protection and ecological transition projects in Serbia.
Ana Brnabic said the first loan was worth 132.6 million euros and the second 102 million euros.
As she explained, the first loan is co-financed by the EBRD with € 82.6 million and the French Development Agency with € 50 million, while the second is co-financed by these two organizations with € 51 million. euros each.
Brnabic also said the money would be spent on modernizing railways, which she called the greenest form of transport, and protecting the environment.
The agreements were signed with the French Ambassador to Serbia, Jean-Louis Falconi, the Regional Director for Eurasia of the French Development Agency (AFD), Cécile Couprie, and the Regional Director for the Western Balkans of the World Bank, Linda van Gelder.
