Emirates News Agency – UAE Government delegation visits Serbia

DUBAI, 31st May, 2022 (WAM) — During an official visit to Serbia, a UAE government delegation organized several meetings, workshops and visits under a bilateral cooperation agreement between the two governments, which was recently signed in Dubai, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance.

The visit aims to promote the exchange of knowledge, expertise and successful experiences in government services and artificial intelligence (AI), as well as to build the capacity of government buildings and employees.

The Emirati delegation included Mohammed bin Taliah, Head of Government Services of the United Arab Emirates Government; Dr. Yasir Al Naqbi, Deputy Director General for Leadership and Government Capabilities in the Prime Minister’s Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs; Saqr bin Ghalib, Executive Director of the UAE Government’s Office of Artificial Intelligence; and Salem Al Shaami, Director of the Cabinet Office Government Services Development Department at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs.

Dr. Al Naqbi said the Emirati delegation’s visit to Serbia was part of their joint efforts to implement the bilateral agreement on government modernization, noting that the UAE government was keen to share its knowledge and experiences. with other governments around the world, learn about global success stories in the areas of state modernization, benefit from the modernization of their working systems, and strengthen the foundations of future government.

Strengthening international cooperation and partnerships in development and modernization is essential for the advancement of governments and maintaining their resilience and readiness for the future, he added.

The delegation held meetings to discuss the UAE government’s cooperation with its Serbian counterpart, with a focus on digital services.

The two sides also held a working meeting to share their governments’ experiences in creating smart government and improving smart services, as well as to discuss related initiatives, such as the government accelerators of United Arab Emirates and the digital transformation of its services.

They exchanged their successful experiences in AI, digital economy, programming, biomedicine and creative industries, and reviewed the exchange program covering government knowledge launched by the UAE government to strengthen global partnerships in the exchange of knowledge and successful experiences.

On May 12, 2022, Sheikh Maktoum witnessed the signing of a bilateral cooperation agreement in government modernization between the two countries signed by Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and Ana Brnabić, Prime Minister of Serbia .

The agreement focuses on ten major areas of cooperation, to ensure preparedness for the future and find innovative solutions to related challenges. These areas include digital government, digital economy, science and innovation, government capacity building, government accelerators, business incubators, creative industries, tourism, education, programming and l ‘IA.
